Adrienne Goloda, LMSW-C
Along with being a licensed psychotherapist, I am also a: certified bodyworker, indie scholar, lapsed poet, ex-bartender, and camrade in lived-experience with mental dis-ease.
I specialize in embodiment, a framework that is rooted in both emergent neuroscience + timeless ways of knowing & being a human be-ing. I continuously study body-mind-spirit healing modalities. I most recently trained under Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, internationally loved creatrix, aka author of Women who Run with the Wolves; I am heavily influenced by her work. My main trainings/influences include: Jungian Somatics via Jane Clapp; the Embodied Recovery Institute (informed by both Sensorimotor Psychotherapy + Somatic Experiencing); numerous professional workshops in trauma & the body/nervous-system, including the application of Polyvagal Theory via Stephen Porges & Deb Dana and integrating it with Parts-Work (aka Internal Family Systems by Richard Schwartz); I am also an iRest yoga-nidra/meditation teacher. Adjacent to my clinical training, I have completed many rounds of Activate Your Inner Jaguar courses via Kimberly Ann Johnson. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I was a massage therapist.
I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Western Michigan University, where I interned in community mental health + a state psychiatric hospital & was a teaching + research assistant. I also hold a BA in English/creative-writing from Kalamazoo College.
I adore my little black cat Morpheus, quiet, movement, the desert, fancyish clothes, free-spirits, books & finding beauty everywhere.
I am a proud first-generation college graduate & only child of a singular single-mom.
Psychotherapy is available to MI-residents-only; happenings are available to everyone/anywhere! but are not a replacement for psychotherapy.
